Want to be famous? Hong Kong/Chinese gangland thriller has a cautionary tale to tell to all those X-factor wannabes who dream of making it into the world of entertainment. The film is apparently based (pinch of salt for artistic licence required here perhaps) on some “real-life� incidents that have occurred in the Asia’s showbiz industry in recent years. Kidnapped centres on two young women named Nana and Lin who aspire to become famous singers and sign deals with the same record company. Nana becomes an overnight superstar after sleeping with her boss. But Lin’s career faces a crisis when she refuses to do the same and is kidnapped and terrorised by gangsters. Hong Kong actor Chapman To, Taiwan’s Sun Xing, and mainland actresses Qu Ying and Ye Yiqian star. ‘’ opens at the end of the month.
