A labour of love by a dot-com startup called Infopreneur, chillybeach.com was launched in 1998 and quickly gained traction as one of the premiere web-based shows built entirely on the then-nascent Flash development platform. After gaining widespread popularity and industry accolades, Chilly Beach expanded into television in 2003, launching into its first season with CBC Television. This was perhaps first time an Internet property was picked up by a national network. The show quickly gained popularity, winning its timeslot among children's and youth programming.
