This Life: Anna is cracking up, burning the candle at both ends and being vile to anyone who suggests she's got a problem. At an important meeting, Graham is severely embarrassed by her behaviour and, following her into the toilet, finds her snorting up a line of cocaine. After all her hard work, it now looks like she will be dismissed. Anna decides to drink herself into oblivion. After Jo gently declines sex, she tries to pick up a stranger has a half-fight with his girlfriend and returns to the house, stoned, drunk and at the end of her tether. Miles is in bed with Francesca, but comes down to investigate the commotion. Anna is in tears. All the grief pours out about her mother, the job, etc. Finally we see the concerned, caring side of Miles. But as he tries to help Anna, one thing leads to another until they end up having tender sex on the couch. Ferdy walks in on them and beats a hasty retreat, only Anna sees him. Neither mention what happened last night, both too guilty to acknowledge how important it was. Anna faces Hooperman,who is surprisingly understanding. He likes Anna and believes she has real talent. A reformed alcoholic himself, he gives her a second chance � provided she agrees to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Meanwhile, Milly is becoming increasingly edgy. At work she takes it out on Rachel. At home she spends hours in the bath (trying to wash away her guilt?). ln the end, she decides to visit the therapist. Egg's plans for the caf� continue apace. He and Nicki have given it a complete facelift � new name, new menu, new decor. Jo is pining for Kim, who doesn't want to know. Ferdy and Lenny are spending more and more time together and Miles cannot resisting winding Ferdy up. Despite being rattled, Ferdy keeps silent about seeing him and Anna together Miles, of course, is oblivious.
